Making Waves: Peggy Bessinger’s Quilts in the Quilts by the River Show

There’s something truly special happening in Palatka, Florida, where creativity, craftsmanship, and community come together for the Quilts by the River Show, hosted by Miss D’s Quilt Shop at Saint James Methodist Fellowship Hall. With certified judging, thoughtfully organized categories, vendors, and baskets for bidding, this show is a celebration of quilting at its finest, and this year, one of our very own Tree City Quilt Guild members, Peggy Bessinger, is part of that story.

And oh, what a story her quilts tell.

Peggy’s first quilt is an absolute showstopper—an elegant interplay of curving, flowing shapes that seem to ripple across the surface like water in motion. Rich purples, teals, and blues intertwine with crisp white negative space, creating a sense of movement that draws your eye across the quilt again and again.

Her second quilt offers a beautiful contrast, structured, rhythmic, and deeply satisfying in its symmetry. Built from intricate geometric blocks in shades of blue and white. The repeating patterns create a sense of harmony and balance, while the variations in fabric give it depth and visual interest. It’s crisp, clean, and expertly constructed.

We are so proud to see Peggy Bessinger in this event. Entering quilts into a judged show takes courage, dedication, and heart, and Peggy has brought all three (and then some).
